How it works

This uses your browser's built-in SpeechSynthesis API — the same engine behind screen readers — to convert text into speech locally on your device. No audio file is created or uploaded; the words are spoken live from your text as it plays.

Frequently asked questions

Can I download the speech as an audio file?

Not from this tool. Browsers don't provide a way to export synthesized speech — it's generated live for playback only.

Why do the voices look different on my device?

Voices come from your operating system, not a server, so the list varies between Windows, Mac, and mobile.

Is there a text length limit?

No hard limit — long text is automatically split into chunks since browsers cut off very long single utterances.
