FAQ

What size should an Open Graph image be?

1200 by 630 pixels is the standard. It is the largest size that still renders sharply on both desktop and mobile feeds, and it is what Facebook, LinkedIn, Slack and X all expect.

What is the maximum image file size?

Keep the PNG under 5MB. Facebook recommends under 8MB but crops or refuses anything larger, and most cards look identical well below 1MB.

Why does my text get cut off in the preview?

Some feeds crop the card. Keep important text inside the middle 1200 by 600 area and away from the outer 30 pixel edges, which different platforms trim at different times.

Does the image get uploaded anywhere?

No. The card is drawn on an HTML canvas inside your browser and exported as a PNG from memory. Nothing is uploaded, and you need your own hosting for the finished image.

Where do I put the finished image?

Upload it to your site or an image host, then point your og:image and twitter:image tags at the full URL. The tool generates those tags for you at the bottom of the page.
