What is schema markup?
Schema markup is code you add to a page that tells search engines what the content means, so they can show it as a rich result — a star rating, a FAQ dropdown, an event date, a recipe card.
Where do I put the JSON-LD?
Paste it inside a script tag with type set to application/ld+json, anywhere in the head or body of the page. Google reads it either way, but head is the convention.
Does structured data improve my ranking?
It is not a direct ranking factor, but valid markup makes your pages eligible for rich results, which raises click-through rate — and higher click-through on the same ranking usually means better long-term performance.
What is the difference between JSON-LD, Microdata and RDFa?
All three do the same job, but JSON-LD is a single block of JSON kept separate from the visible HTML, so it is far easier to write, maintain and validate. Google recommends it.
Can I check markup for any URL?
Yes. Switch to the Check tab, paste the JSON-LD from a page, and the validator reports missing required fields, common type mistakes and anything that will be ignored by Google.
