How Buzz In works

  1. The host creates a room and shares the QR code.
  2. Players scan the code and enter their names.
  3. The host asks a question and starts the next round.
  4. Players tap BUZZ! as quickly as they can.
  5. Buzz In records the order and locks the round after a short capture window.

Important: Timing is based on messages received by the host's browser over the network, so it is excellent for casual games and classrooms but should not be treated as a precision competition timer.

Frequently asked questions

Do players need to install an app?

No. Buzz In runs entirely in the browser. Players scan the host's QR code or open the join link, enter a name, and tap BUZZ when ready.

How fair is the timing?

The host records the order buzzes arrive over the network, then locks the round after a short capture window so near-simultaneous presses are all counted. It's great for casual games and classrooms but is not a precision competition timer.

Can the host run a quiz on one device?

Yes — a phone, tablet, or laptop can host while players join from their own phones. For a game-show feel, keep the host page open on a TV or projector.

Does Buzz In store anything on a server?

No. The room state lives in the host's browser. Buzz In uses the public PeerJS Cloud signaling service only to set up the browser-to-browser WebRTC connection, so the timing data stays between host and players.
