What you can share

Any of these can travel from one screen to another the moment the QR is scanned:

  • Text & notes — a short message, a reminder, directions.
  • Links — send an openable URL to a phone in one scan.
  • Images — a photo or screenshot appears instantly, ready to save.
  • Files — any document, video, or archive, delivered as a download.
  • Contacts — a name, number, and email as a saveable vCard.
  • Wi-Fi — hand a guest the network, or make a direct-connect QR.

How it works

Open a share on your laptop and a QR code appears. Scan it with your phone (or the phone's camera) and the content arrives instantly — you can save it, copy it, or open it. Because it runs in the browser over WebRTC, nothing passes through a server: the content moves straight between your two devices and is gone when you close the tab.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need an app on either device?

No. Both devices run in the browser. One opens a share, the other scans the QR code (or types the room code), and the content arrives.

Is a QR share secure?

Content travels directly between your two devices over WebRTC after a short PeerJS signaling handshake; it is not stored on any server. Anyone who gets the code and joins the room while it is open can see the shared item, so keep the room open only for the person you are sending to.

Why can it fail to connect?

Both devices need internet (or at least to reach the PeerJS signaling service) once to make the handshake, and it works best when they share a network. Some strict or corporate routers can block the direct connection with no server relay, which usually first shows up as a 'waiting to connect' screen.

How long does a share last?

As long as the share tab stays open. Close it (or tap End share) and the room disappears — there is nothing left on a server to expire.

Can a guest join my Wi-Fi just by scanning?

If you tick 'Direct-connect QR' in the Wi-Fi tab, Android and iOS can join natively on scan. Otherwise the room simply delivers the network name and password to your phone so you (or the guest) can enter it.
