⌨️ Typing Race
Race your friends in a real-time WPM battle. Host picks the text, everyone scans a QR code, and the leaderboard ranks you by speed and accuracy.
How it works
- One person opens Host a Race on their phone and casts it to the TV.
- Everyone else scans the QR code on screen with their own phone and types a name.
- The host hits Start Race. The same text appears on every player's phone at the same time.
- 3… 2… 1… GO! — type as fast as you can until the timer ends.
- The leaderboard ranks everyone by WPM, accuracy, characters typed, and errors.
What's measured
- WPM — words per minute (correct characters ÷ 5, divided by minutes typed).
- Accuracy — correct characters ÷ total keystrokes.
- Characters — total correct characters typed.
- Errors — wrong keystrokes (does not penalize you, just counted).
- Time — how long you actually typed before finishing or running out of time.

FAQ
Do players need to download anything?
No. Everyone just opens the page in their phone browser and scans the QR code on the host's screen. No app, no account, no signup.
How many players can join?
Up to 12 in one room. With more people, play as teams — one phone per team works great.
How is WPM calculated?
WPM = (correct characters typed ÷ 5) ÷ minutes elapsed. Accuracy = correct characters ÷ total keystrokes. Errors = wrong keystrokes (just counted, not penalized — you can finish a race with errors).
Does everyone type the same text?
Yes. The host picks a passage from the built-in bank or types their own. The same text is sent to every player's phone the moment the race starts.
What if someone's phone disconnects?
Their name and stats are remembered. Reopen the link and they rejoin under the same name. The race keeps running for everyone else.
Do I need a TV?
No. The host phone alone is enough — the countdown, text, and live leaderboard show right on it. Casting to a TV just makes it easier for everyone to see.
